Further information
This 3 day tour has as its starting point the stable of the Hotel Tambor del Llano, where we will prepare the horses to start the first day of the route.
DAY 1 - TAMBOR DEL LLANO - CORTES DE LA FRONTERA
We will take a path between cork oaks and olive trees to leave the farm, and immediately take a ravine that will take us to El Puerto del Viento, where we can contemplate a spectacular view on the plain of Pozo de los Alamos and its mountains of karst formations (The relief Karst is due to water erosion of limestone). We will continue our way along a Roman road to reach Puerto de Zurraque. There an immense plain awaits us to start galloping or trotting the horses to the end of the land. We will begin our descent to the Libár road, to take a lane that will take us directly to Los llanos del Libár. This immense plain, located above a thousand meters above sea level, is named after the Cortijo de Líbar, a rural refuge, located practically halfway between the towns of Montejaque and Cortes de la Frontera, it is precisely in this place where visitors tend to feel most comforted by the unexpectedness of the landscape. A green meadow extends as far as the rocky mountains allow, which surround it and, at the same time, protect it. The immense terrain will allow us to gallop the horses until we reach the end of the plain, where we will go to the source of Pilar de Cortes el Viejo, and to finish, we will take the road called "Grazalema" to reach our destination, the town Malaga, Cortes de la Frontera.
DAY 2 - CORTES DE LA FRONTERA - RONDA
For the second day of the excursion we will leave the town of Cortes, to further head to the bank of the Guadiaro River, which will take us directly to the town of Jimera de la Frontera. From there we will take a path that runs along the Águila stream, until we reach the ruins of the Los Higueros farmhouse. We will continue our path until we reach a livestock track that we will travel for several kilometers until we find the Mirador del Pino where we can enjoy spectacular views over the city of Ronda. From there we will go under the famous Ronda bridge called "El tajo", until we reach our destination where we will leave the horses.
DAY 3 - RONDA - TAMBOR DEL LLANO
For the third and last day of the route, we will leave Ronda near the Tajo, to head to the area known as La indiana. From there, we will go up to the Hermitage of the Virgen de la Escarihuela, which will present us from the top with an extraordinary view of Montejaque and the mountains. There is great devotion to the Virgin of Escarihuela in Montejaque. Tradition has it that Ronda suffered from a great plague epidemic, and the residents of Ronda, knowing the miracles of the patron saint of the Montejaqueños, asked them to carry her in a procession. Legend has it that while the processions were leaving Montejaque, The weight of the Virgin increased more and more. Until there came a time when they could no longer advance any further and had to return, but their efforts were not in vain, but the next day an email arrived from Ronda saying that the epidemic had subsided. We will begin our descent to the streets of the town of Montejaque, to later take a Dehesa to the Los Calabazales farm, where cows, goats and sheep graze freely. The lane will allow us to trot and gallop if clients wish. We will then gradually enter the surroundings of the Campobuche stream, an area where the tree species of Cork Oaks and Quejigos dominate. The path that runs along the stream will take us back to the Tambor del Llano hotel blocks to finish the tour.
